Work is underway to construct seven new wind turbines in the communes of Saulgond and Lesterps in Charente Limousine.
Abo Wind are building four turbines at Lesterps and three at Saulgond at a cost of 21 million euros. The giant structures will be the tallest in the Charente, with the masts measuring 105 metres the total structure height will reach 150 metres including the 45 metre blades.
There are currently 25 wind turbines in Charente, and another new project at Saint Fraigne will see turbines built from concrete rather than steel. Concrete accounts for more than 7% of the carbon emissions on earth.
The wind farm at Saulgond and Lesterps is due to become operational in the New Year.
