Have a look at the official Real Time Data for Wind generation in the UK from NETA

NETA : "The New Electricity Trading Arrangements"
Their site is updated every 10 mins with real time data that shows among other things what % of our power is being generated by which of the 12 fuel types we use as categorised by NETA

Visit the NETA SITE here to view their 'ELECTRICITY SUMMARY PAGE'
  1. There is a menu on the left of that page
You can click 'Generation by fuel type' on the menu
  2. The related boxes with real time data are on the body of the page
You can scroll down to the 17th box titled "Generation By Fuel Type"
  • THEN
  • Look at the column at the far right of that box "Generation By Fuel Type"
This shows you how much of our power was generated by wind in the previous 24 hours

It is worthwhile visiting their site every day to view the previous 24 hour data
It does not take long to see that Wind isn't doing and will not do the job.

At extraordinary cost , this nation continues to throw good money after bad.

With ALL of our current onshore and offshore wind turbines
(At 1 December 2010 there were 3,149 turbines in the UK)
Look at the following statictics

.....
Throughout 2009, an average 2.5% of UK electricity was generated by wind power

On January 14th 2011- while the country is still very cold and we need heat
(from 4.30 am on January 13th through 4.30 am on January 14th)

Here are the stats for these 24 hours from the official live data statistics
  1. Gas generated 40.7%
  2. Coal generated 33.7%
  3. Nuclear generated 18.8%
  4. Import from France 2.9% (more than our own total wind generation)
  5. Wind generated only 2.1% of our electricity
  6. Hydro 0.8%
  7. All the 'others' 1.0 %

That is with 3149 turbines
How many turbines will we need to even approach the current targets?
The wind turbines required in Britain alone, says Prof David MacKay of Cambridge University, would amount to about double the number of all turbines in the world.

We are sacrificing our landscape and heading for fuel poverty
Something is seriously wrong with this

Visit this page for an explanation by physicist John Droz for the reasons why this is the case

We ALL need to be asking our representatives at local, national and EU level for
  • A good thorough explanation
