Failsafe?
How could they be so badly designed or constructed
If tower blocks were collapsing we'd take another look

Wind Turbine Fire.
On Christmas Eve 2005, a wind turbine at Nissan car plant in Sunderland caught fire at the top, spreading slowly to the sails before finally burning out. Both lanes of the nearby A19 trunk road had to be closed to traffic because of the danger caused by the wind turbine fire. The towers of the wind turbine are 200 feet high, so they were not accessible to fire crews.Eventually, all 3 of the 75 foot long blades, or what was left of them, dropped off.The central power pack at the top of the mast is thought to be the cause of the fire. The 6 wind turbines were bought second hand from Germany, and there are many reports of fires in other turbines on the Internet.Wind Turbines in The Netherlands,Palm Springs CA, Hornslet near Aarhus, Denmark, and Burgos in Spain have all had accidents involving fire.
Nissan in Sunderland now have 10 wind turbines.

www.windaction.org - For a couple months now, most of the windmills on the old Bethlehem Steel property haven't been turning at all. Norman Polanski, Lackawanna Mayor, "They're not turning plain and simple that's what everybody keeps callling me about, the windmills aren't turning." ... A Clipper Vice President tells me the plan now is for a crane to arrive next week to take all of the gear boxes down send them back to the factory in Iowa, and then replace them one by one throughout the winter. The towers will still stand but the blades will have to come off of all eight wind mills. It could be March or April before the job is finished.

www.windaction.org - Windmill collapse during a storm in Denmark. The braking system failed while two technicians worked in the turret at the top. The technicians were able to get out before the collapse. A 19 meter piece of the blade was thrown 20 metres away; Smaller pieces were sent more than 500 meters away.
